PEEP Changes

Acute Pancreatitis, Respiratory failure - 45 y.o. Female

Four recordings by the VRIICU™ device were obtained during increase of Positive End-Expiratory Pressure (PEEP). As seen in the first image recorded at PEEP 8, there is less vibration energy distribution in the lower lung than at PEEP 10 and 12. Conversely, the image recorded at PEEP 14 not only reveals decreased energy distribution in the lower right lung but also increased vibration in the upper right lung. The arterial blood oxygen did not increase from PEEP 12 to PEEP 14, in agreement with the result by the VRI™ technology.
