These three images by the VRIICU™ device were recorded on a patient ventilated in three different modes of mechanical ventilation: Volume Control (VC), Pressure Control (PC) & Pressure Support (PS) while tidal volume was held constant. As can be easily seen in the images, geographical distribution of vibration energy increases in the lower lung on PC and PS versus VC. A study conducted on 38 intensive care patients revealed that this difference is statistically significant, especially in the lower regions of the lung.
