Introduction: The V/Q Scan along with the lung function test is the diagnostic methods in the prediction of the lung function after lung resection due to cancer. The VRIxp™ device records the vibration as response to airflow whilst the patient breathes normally for 12 seconds, non-invasively & without radiation. Included in the comprehensive imaging tools is a regional calculation of the vibration distribution [Quantitative Lung Data - QLD] for any given breathing cycle within the 12 second period. Clinical validation studies have validated that the QLD can be directly correlated with VQ Scan results. [1], [2]

Quick, Easy, Accurate & Efficient

Now the VRIxp™ imaging system has been further developed to include a desktop software package, the O-Plan that will enable the specialist to assess the operability of patients with surgically resectable lung malignancies at the bedside & without any radiation. The specialist simply combines the results from the VRIxp™ device, with current lung function results & intended surgery plan to accurately & efficiently asses the patients’ lung function post-surgery, and to better plan the surgery.

Based on the PPO guidelines for accurate & objective measurements, the O-plan results of the PPO equation are presented for an even more effective assessment.
Multiple recordings by the VRIxp™ device, with automatic or manually selected breathing cycles, enable the specialist to achieve high reliability of the results.
The VRIxp™ data is presented in a manner similar to quantitative lung scintigraphy.
